Mayfield Gardens Tour

9:00am:

We board the bus and head in a southerly direction toward the little town of Oberon to Mayfield Gardens.
9:30am:

Arrive at Mayfield. This garden is beyond description, covering 160 acres (64 hectares), making it quite possibly the largest privately owned cool climate garden in Australia. Mayfield Garden has featured on Australian TV programs as a standout example of a beautiful garden on a large scale.

Mayfield Garden eclipses anything else in the Southern hemisphere and is completely privately owned and maintained.

Lying mid-way between Bathurst and Oberon and employing many full time local people, a visit to Mayfield will have you marvelling at the skill, dedication expertise that has gone into making Mayfield Garden what it is today. Gardeners, horticulturalists, stone masons and specialists all work to manage, maintain and develop this magnificent garden.

With the Water garden open to the public all throughout the year and the full garden at selected times, planning a visit to Mayfield Garden is a must.

10:30am:

We enjoy morning tea within the grounds of Mayfield.

12:30pm: Lunch at Mayfield café (prices vary)

2:30pm:

We say goodbye to Mayfield and head back through the locality of O’Connell. After passing through the War Memorial Avenue of trees, we detour through the back roads to Ben Chifley dam passing the small Renzaglia family winery (call in by prior appointment). We visit Ben Chifley dam (Bathurst’s main water supply) and enjoy a leisurely drive back to Bathurst, passing through the village of Perthville, admiring the old Perthville Pub and seeing where Bush Ranger Ben Hall held up the Hen and Chicken Inn.

4:30pm:

Arrive back in Bathurst.
This tour will have you wondering if you are in Australia or a famous garden in Europe. The owner draws much inspiration from the great gardens of many European and this is truly evident. Not just a must-see-destination for garden lovers. It’s a must-see-destination for everyone. There are simply no adequate words to accurately describe Mayfield Garden. It is simply stunning.
