Cowra Japanese War Cemetery and Concentration Camp Tour

9:00am:

Leaving Bathurst we travel west along the Mid-west highway with our first stop being the small rural community of Blayney.
10:00am: Morning tea at the Blayney Lookout. Here you can admire the town itself, look over the hills and learn about the area.

10:30am:

We stop in briefly to look at Carcoar Dam and the electricity generating windmills.

10:50am: While in the Carcoar area, we pay a visit to the Central West Livestock Exchange. This amazing state of the art cattle selling facility is world class in its approach to animal welfare and handling methods. We may even be luck to see a sale in progress.
11:30am: Before taking in the Japanese war cemetery and concentration camp, we first stop into the Cowra Visitors Centre to experience the amazing hologram movie of these features. (requires a Gold Coin Donation).

1:00pm:

Lunch at one of the Cowra hotels/café’s/restaurants (prices vary)

2:00pm:

before saying good-bye to Cowra, we look at the famous Peace Bell in the forecourt of the Cowra Council Chambers.
3:00pm: Visiting the historic town of Carcoar is something everyone should do and before heading back to Bathurst, we call in on this little town to learn about its history; Churches, the old hospital, the town centre and museum (when open).

4:00pm:

Arrive back in Bathurst.
This is a lovely tour for those who enjoy a pleasant drive through the country and wish to learn more about the surrounding towns and war efforts.
